Today I take you to a charming little Piazza that I passed by every day while in Rome enroute to my bus transfer destination at Largo Argentino. The Piazza Benedetto Cairoli is not a well manicured Piazza and perhaps that lends to some of its charm. It is a favorite of the pigeons and you will have to shoo them off the benches if you'd like to sit and people watch. I usually sit for a bit and soak in the atmosphere. Do click on the images to enlarge.
The building you see behind the fountain is the Palazzo Signori.
On the end opposite the fountain is a statute dedicated to Federico Seismit-Doda (1825-1893) who was involved in some of the early politics of the young Italian Republic and a member of the Venetian Volunteers. This group led a revolt against the Austrians in 1848.
The pigeons put on quite a show in the fountain. I thought this fellow quite pretty.
Let's sit down and chat a bit, watch the pigeons and plan out our adventure for today.
Do stop by MY WORLD and visit the other participants posts. We have quite a group from all corners of the world. I know you will find the photo essays very interesting.

I love the terra cottas and the blues in these photos. So earthy looking. With all those pigeons, one would think the benches would be covered in bird poo - but it looks quite clean! I agree, this place is charming!
Thanks for the short trip. I felt like, I was there...c",)
Thank you for taking us on your tour! And thank you also for the visit! Have a great week!
What wonderful photos you took during your stay in Italy. I am glad I don’t have to choose the best one because I wouldn't be able to decide. I enjoyed the first photo looking at that fountain, a refreshing place for pigeons; the old building at the background with so many small windows that decorate its facade and giving it some special look....really beautiful and full of special charm, indeed!
Why do pigeons look so much better there than in my back yard?! Such a beautiful place!
What a charming piazza. Interesting how the pigeons all line up around the fountain. It would be a fascinating place to sit and enjoy the day.
What a wonderful place to hang out with the pigeons. Beautiful.
I always wanted to see the piazzas of Italy in person but in the meantime I am enjoying the Italian tour you're giving us.
I am enthrelled with your posts from Italy.
I find it amazing how all the colours in this square blend naturally, including the advertisements and cars, not to mention the pigeons and buildings.
Lovely Piazza, thanks for taking us around.
