Skywatch Friday-View from a Southbound Train to Rome
Traveling south on an intercity train to Rome after a delightful day exploring the hill town of Orvieto, Italy I spotted this great cloud formation hovering over another hill top town. Orvieto is located on a 934 foot plateau overlooking the valley below.
Do take time to check out more great Sky Watch photos by clicking SKYWATCH
It reminds me of an el Greco painting. Beautiful the way the storm clouds follow the contours of the hill with just that toutch of light to define the village.
That sure is an interesting cloud formation. I think this is the first Skywatch photo I've seen that was taken from a train. Really glad you shared this.
Very impressive sky! I wonder if such a sky promises rain. Thank you for your visit and comment. Yes from a satelite it must be visible that all the lights go out. I remember that a satelite with astronauts once came over Australia at a certain time and that everybody put the lights on at that time. And the astronauts could see it.
Thanks for the visit this week. That cloud sure looks ominous over the town. I've never been to Italy, or Europe for that matter. It is just so hard to leave our cabin on Powell Lake. - Margy
Looking at your picture, even before reading your text, I knew it was Italy. I can't explain why, certainly the village at the top of the hill. It's a wonderful picture that leave a huge place for the sky. I like it.
Wow! That is funny that we both did "train" shots. This one is great and your window gave it a neat effect, I think. It kinda framed the beautiful cloud. Wow, Italy...how nice. :o)
I missed a lot of SkyWatch posts last week. I enjoyed scrolling down, looking at your Italy photos. It sounds like you had a great trip! Thanks for showing us some of the beauty you got to see.

Incredible sky. EXCELLENT photography!!
Lovely, can't wait to see puffy white clouds here!
Great cloud indeed...what a show. Great capture too.
Beautiful sky and clouds...love the hill top town....
That's a great sky. The whole scene looks rather dreamy.
This photo really has some special look. It looks like as if those clouds is going to sit on the top of that hill town.
Wonderful picture with the focua all on the cloud. I hope you had a fantastic time in Italy, it's my fave country in the world.
It reminds me of an el Greco painting. Beautiful the way the storm clouds follow the contours of the hill with just that toutch of light to define the village.
That sure is an interesting cloud formation. I think this is the first Skywatch photo I've seen that was taken from a train. Really glad you shared this.
Thanks for sharing these lovely photos from your travels, sure brightens up Sky Watch Friday.
I love this shot. The clouds are so beautiful over the hill top town and I also like the way the bottom of the shot shows motion.
Beautiful clouds and beautiful sky.
That is so impressive and the scenery is gorgeous.
Oh, how appealing is this postcard photo. I love Italy; its charming towns, the language, the food and so much more.

Nice painterly photo!
Interesting and large cloud. Looks great with the soft focus
Very impressive sky! I wonder if such a sky promises rain. Thank you for your visit and comment. Yes from a satelite it must be visible that all the lights go out. Beautiful photo for SWF. Looked like rain is coming with those dark clouds. Thanks for visiting my blog and have a nice weekend.
Oh my, that is a lovely photograph. What an incredible cloud formation you captured.
The edges blur so nicely and there is a focus to the right place.
That is wonderful. What a wonderful landscape.
Erin: Neat photo, it looks like you are getting neat shots from your trip. Have a great time.
