You have a creative eye, Erin. These are all so wonderful.
The differently colored shutters remind me of eyelashes. Accentuating the windows, they give them their own uniqueness.
I also admire the cleverly placed flower pot and candle holders(?).

Wow! So much to see when you turn your chin to the sky!

I'm not sure which I like most: all the beautiful old windows and shutters, or the SUNSHINE making them look so warm and lovely!

What a wonderful selection, I loved it!

first two shots are from assisi: buildings over 100 years old and i would venture to say the first building is 100 years old + and notice the old candle posts attached to the building, also note that the one building has been plastered over...and probably would look the similar to first if not plastered.

the third from orvieto-building probably older than 75 years;

the fourth from the piazza navona in rome and it is an old building as well, most likely in the 100+ group; and the last from the trastevere area in rome near the flea market and it is probably 50+ as well.

most buildings in city centers are aged and some over 100 years of age. the exteriors are often prettied up with new stucco and trims. restoration is the direction they go as replacing with new would be out of character in historic areas.

all taken in february this year

Your photos make me want pizza! (I think it's the effect of being too deprived of Western foods!) One of my students told me snake is delicious, but I can't imagine it tasting anything other than rubber.

Gorgeous! I believe my favorite is the shot with the little clump of clothes hanging out the window. Or maybe it's the window reflecting the angles just so, it appears to be a minimal abstract painting. Or maybe it's the Madonna...you get the picture. Love these. I've yet to go to Italy and you are not squelching my desire to do so. Not one bit.

I walked over from David's.

Love your window shots. I think the 3rd one is my favorite. If eyes are the windows to the souls... I wonder what windows are the windows to.
