Views from Ponte Vecchio-Florence, Italy-My World

Today I am featuring some window and building photographs from the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy. I just loved the way the water and light worked together in these captures.Don't you just love the peeling plaster exposing the bricks beneath? And, the rusting wrought iron work? These are the backs of the businesses that face the bridge walkway. I think some of the shops are also configured as living quarters as well. Of course, the sea gulls had to do a fly by for me and I was lucky enough to capture them.

Be sure to stop by My World hosted by the great team of: Klaus | Sandy | Ivar | Wren | Fishing Guy| Louise . They do a fantastic job. I so enjoy all the entries from around the world. Do stop by if you've a chance.

Hi Erin! They are marvellous! Are they watercolours? They look like watercolours any way. And I especially like that kind of light blue. Thanks for sharing! Thanks for your comment on my story. It was a terrible time.

Nice to see a culture that can accept a worn infrastructure without our American obsession for newness.

Hi Erin, Me again. I thought I'd pop back to answer your questions. I think the plant with the red flowers in the planters is begonia and I'm guessing the big leafy ones are elephant ears.

As I recall, there were a lot of birds in Italy. Nice capture of another side of the shops and restaurants.

You are right Erin. The light and the water really do a great work together. The third photo got a special look just because of their playing. And, the first photo is really beautiful; the seal gulls give the photo some special charm. I also like the second photo with those small and interesting windows. Great trio that you posted!

Just, WOW. I love the old European cities and villages where the buildings and public art are allowed to show their age and wear a bit--part of the charm. The colours make these even better--I loved every one.

It took me this long to drop by (been busy, busy) but I'm glad I did! Lovely... truly lovely! I just love the rustic colors of Italy. I hope I get to visit it again in the future. I've been to Ponte Vecchio but these details wowed me more than when I was there. Great, great captures!
